OWNER GUIDE 2
HOW TO DRESS YOUR HOLIDAY HOME
Dressing means making the caravan look cared for and ready, before the photos and before every guest. It costs little and it is what guests remember.
START WITH CLEAN AND FRESH
- Deep clean once a season: windows inside and out, the oven, behind the sofa, the shower seals.
- Fresh, neutral smell. Air the caravan before guests arrive and avoid strong plug-in scents.
- Replace anything tired: a stained mattress protector, a chipped mug, a sagging cushion.
SOFT FURNISHINGS DO THE WORK
- White bed linen photographs best and looks clean. Add colour with cushions and a throw.
- Two or three cushions on the sofa, in one or two colours, not seven.
- A rug in the lounge warms up a vinyl floor.
- Matching towels, folded on the end of each bed.
SET THE SCENE
- Lay the dining table: plates, glasses and a jug of flowers.
- Put a welcome tray on the kitchen side: tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits.
- Two chairs and a small table out on the decking, with a cushion on each.
- A potted plant by the steps.
- For dog-friendly caravans: a dog bed, two bowls and a towel by the door, so dog owners can see you mean it.
LESS IS MORE
Clear away ornaments, signs with slogans and personal photos. Guests want to picture their own holiday, not yours. One or two pieces of local art, such as a print of your town, are enough.
BEFORE EVERY GUEST
- Beds made, towels out, welcome tray filled.
- Heating on in cooler months, so it is warm when they walk in.
- Decking swept and the outdoor furniture wiped.
- Welcome book on the table.
