FOR GUESTS
WHY THE SAME CARAVAN CAN COST MORE ON A BOOKING SITE
When you book through a big site, the site is paid too. Sometimes you see the fee, sometimes it is built into the price. When you book direct with the owner, there is nobody in the middle.
WHERE THE FEES GO
- Airbnb now charges most UK hosts a single fee of 15.5% of the booking, and no separate guest fee. The fee comes out of the price you pay, so hosts often set prices with it in mind.
- Vrbo adds a guest service fee to most bookings, which it says varies with the booking amount, and also charges the owner a commission.
- UK Caravans 4 Hire takes payment for the booking and charges a £30 admin fee to change your dates.
BOOKING DIRECT WITH THE OWNER
On Static Stays you contact the owner, agree the dates and pay them. We take no booking fee from you and no commission from them. Owners pay us £79 a year to list.
Booking direct means checking a few things yourself. Ask the park to confirm the owner before you pay, pay by credit card where you can, and get the terms in writing. How to book safely
Correct as at 25 October 2026. Every figure about another company on this page is quoted from the source linked below, as it read on that date, and we keep a dated copy. We recheck them every month.
