DOGS ON THE BEACH: 2026 SEASON

Summer 2026: Cornwall Council's order covers Porth Beach, where dogs are banned 10am to 6pm from 1 July to 31 August. Fistral and Towan are not on the council list. Privately owned beaches can set their own rules, so check the signs. Rules can change each year, so check the signs.

LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Seven main beaches: Tolcarne, Harbour, Towan, Great Western, Fistral, Lusty Glaze and Porth. Towan is the family beach in the town centre and Fistral is the surfing beach.
  • Newquay Zoo is a short walk from Trenance Gardens and its lake.
  • Rainy day: Blue Reef Aquarium, or indoor adventure golf at Pirate's Quest (check opening times).
  • Walk the South West Coast Path along Newquay's cliffs.
  • Sea safaris leave Newquay Harbour, with a chance of dolphins and seals.
  • Train: Newquay station is in the town centre, on the branch line from Par.
  • Eat: seafood from the working harbour.
