DOG-FRIENDLY HOLIDAY HOMES IN SOMERSET

7 THINGS TO KNOW

1. Dog-friendly homes direct from the owner. 3 privately owned holiday homes in Somerset on Static Stays welcome dogs, across 3 parks. You book direct with the owner, with no booking fee.
2. Weekly prices from £180. Dog-friendly homes in Somerset run from £180 to £1,000 a week, depending on the season.
3. Dogs on the beach in Minehead. Dogs are not allowed on Minehead beach between the Golf Club groyne and the Jubilee Café steps, typically from 1 May to 30 September. Dogs must be on a lead on the Esplanade. Outside that stretch and outside those dates the beach is open to dogs, but Minehead Town Council's Dog Walk map is the reference, so check locally (01643 707213).
4. Dogs on Butlin's Lakeside Caravan Village, Minehead. Dogs are allowed in the caravan village by prior arrangement, on a lead, but not on the main resort; some breeds are banned.
5. Dogs on Home Farm Holiday Centre. Not clear: the listing both says the site is not dog friendly and lists dogs allowed, so guests should check with the owner and the park.
6. Dogs on Sandy Glade Holiday Park. Up to 2 dogs are welcome for a charge; they must be on leads and only in certain areas, and some breeds are restricted.
7. Check with the owner. Each owner decides whether dogs can stay and how many, and some charge for them. Ask before you book.
